Mt. Brurahornet
The hike to Mt. Brurahornet starts at Street 7 and quickly ascends through forested paths, offering early panoramic views of Måløy and the surrounding coastline. Once at the top, you are rewarded with spectacular views down to Nordfjorden, Måløy, and inland across the mainland. Well worth the effort!
Starting point: Street 7 (Måløy Stadium)
Getting there: Drive to Måløy and navigate to Gate 7. Parking is available near the trailhead.
Duration: 3 – 4 hours roundtrip, depending on pace and breaks.
Km: 4 – 4,5 km, depending on route and starting point.
Elevation (masl): 549 m
Ascent: 450 m, depending on starting point.
Terrain: The trail features a mix of forest paths, rocky sections, and steep inclines.
Level of Difficulty: Moderate to challenging. Suitable for hikers with a good level of fitness.
Season: May – October. It is possible all year if snow-free and dry.
Round-trip option
This hike can be done as a loop that includes Kjeretoppane, Veten, and Brurahornet. From the trailhead you first reach Kjeretoppane, then continue up to Veten – the highest peak with wide coastal views – before returning via Brurahornet.
It’s also possible to shorten the route by visiting only two of the peaks (for example Kjeretoppane + Veten, or Veten + Brurahornet) and still make it a round-trip back to the starting point.
